responsibility to the overall community drive everything that they do. This shows in the products that they make from fine furniture, blankets and food items.

My first experience with the Amish was a mystical journey. I was told of Amish country on the way home from my Mother's so I decided to find these fine craftsmen. After a long drive I found the most beautiful green countryside and river. Coming across the bridge was an Amish funeral and all were walking behind the carriage without their shoes. The women were adorned with their bonnets and the men with hats and beards.

I knew I was embarking on something new and different, so I must keep on down the gravel road. The next house that appeared sold honey and lots of it. The best you will ever find. Then you crossed another bridge and then a turn with all these little signs telling what each Amish family talent was. You must understand that, to an entrepreneur like myself, it was as if I was in heaven. A mother and her children were walking down the road and told me that the furniture maker would be back soon. I wandered amazed into their barn with wonderful handmade willow furniture. The journey was full of rugs, and more honey and herbs, and soap, and at last beautiful handmade baskets.

This was the start of my love for Amish Furnishings. We now use a wonderful man that travels all over the Amish Country and knows each craftsman by name. He uses some of the top Amish builders in the country, but you must understand that certain rules and timing apply to the Amish. Their families and their religion always come first. Their business is always run with a personal handshake and their timing is their own. You may have to get in line, but it is worth the wait.
